My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
I started working right after high school, not in my field. Just wasn't ready to go to college.
2.
Went to college after a couple of years because I was better focused and new what I wanted to do.
3.
I found my way into a computer operator job and found that I liked it and I was good.
4.
Continued to gain more experience and meeting different people in areas I wanted to work in.
5.
Mentored with other people in the field and changed jobs a couple of times.
6.
Stayed true to myself: sincere, honest, caring, open are traits that will be with you all your life.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
One that I remember is 'don't work for that company, they are a seat shop.' Well, it is all in how you look at it. It was one of my favorite jobs and group of people to work with.
How I responded:
I didn't listen to those people. I made my decisions and followed what I believed in. Sometimes it is the right decision for you, sometimes not. But, YOU made the decision not someone else. I also live by the motto "you don't know until you try." Maybe you find out it isn't right, but at least you tried and you never have to wander, "What If?"
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
My family didn't have the money to send me to college. So I worked for a few years, not only to save money for school but I was more mature then. I also knew what I wanted to do and how to go about it.
No one in my family went to college. I was getting into a field where I needed more knowledge. I also went when I was ready.
