Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
You should be more partisan, or run for an office I didn't want to hold.
How I responded:
Decide who you are and be that person. The public can tell a phony. You will also regret decisions that you make to accomodate others at the expense of your true feelings.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
My parents grew up in rural Texas. They had not been to college and I was the oldest. I had to find my own path, but they always supported me and things worked out great. This is why you study the paths of others. It's a common theme.
