Growing up in Massachusetts, I was fortunate to have parents who prioritized education, sending me to one of the best school systems in the state.

I earned my undergraduate degree in public policy and a law degree, both of which expanded my worldview and deepened my empathy.

Drawn to public service, I began my career with unpaid internships in Washington, pursuing a passion for education and equity.

Working in government and on political campaigns, I developed resilience in the face of financial instability and short-term job cycles.

My mother, a lifelong government employee, inspired my commitment to serve my community and address systemic challenges.

As Under Secretary of Education, I’ve led efforts to expand student loan forgiveness and improve repayment options for borrowers.
