Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Teachers:
You are at the wrong research institution and studying with the wrong person to get the support you need to complete your work.
How I responded:
I was working with an adviser who was studying science education through quantitative methods and I became more interested in studying arts education, aesthetic development and creativity through qualitative means. My focus was looked at with skepticism with regard to its value. This caused me to step back and reevaluate what I was studying, why I was doing it, and what I hoped to accomplish. I completed my M.A. thesis, and decided that pursuing a PhD. wasn't the best thing for me.
