My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Graduated from Sinton High School in May 1997.
2.
Enrolled in Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas as a Theater Arts Major in August 1997.
3.
Moved from Corpus Christi to Houston with my ex-fiance. I took a year off from school and worked at a dermatologist office. I was going to start school, but then 9/11 happened and I moved back alone.
4.
Started school at TAMU-CC as an education major because my dad said that acting didn't pay the bills. After one year, I changed it to Special Education.
5.
I graduated from TAMU-CC in May of 2004 and started teaching in August 2004 at Tom Browne Middle School in Corpus Christi where I was the behavior teacher for 3 years.
6.
While in Corpus I met my husband who was stationed at Naval Station Ingleside, and then we moved to New Braunfels upon his honorable discharge. I began working with Comal ISD.
7.
I started working at GFES as an elementary behavior teacher, then transferred to CLHS, and am now at MECHS.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
That there wasn't any money in teaching so don't bother going into that field- it's not worth it.
How I responded:
I ignored it because I knew that I had a calling for this on my life. I wasn't going into teaching for the money, I was doing it for the love of it.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I learned that by just writing down the tasks that I need to complete, whether they are weekly or daily, and in order of importance, helps me to focus and get them completed. It helps to see them checked off and to feel accomplished.
