I've taken a lot of twists and turns
1.
2001: I went to college to play softball; around 2004 realized I was better at running and walked onto the cross country team.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
Your liberal arts degree is useless unless you want to be a teacher.
How I responded:
Never lose sight of what you're good at and what you enjoy because the two usually go hand in hand but be willing to get uncomfortable-- let curiosity guide you to fine-tune some skills that might not be as robust. I wasn't as strong in math and data analytics so I went back to school and got my Masters in Informatics.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Two years ago my father passed away at the age of 59 after an eight month battle with cancer. I'm an only child & my parents are divorced so I was his caretaker. He was my best friend and I miss him everyday.
