Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Myself:
You are not smart enough.
How I responded:
Listen to these types of comments & use them to fuel your desire to prove them wrong. Set long range goals and then break them into small, more manageable goals. Write them down and describe how you intend to meet them. You will fail, this is a fact. The important part is what you do after that. Some will learn from those mistakes, others do not. Make sure you do learn as much as possible from them. Write them down and adjust your plan. Keep going, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I am a first generation immigrant. I arrived to the United States (Puerto Rico) from the Dominican Republic when I was 12 years old. I did not move permanently to the mainland U.S. until I enlisted in the U.S. Army.
