Life & Career Milestones

My path in life took a while to figure out

  • 1.

My first job was as a team member at Taco Bell.

  • 2.

It was intimidating because I had to speak so much English, but Spanish was my native language.

  • 3.

At first, Taco Bell was just a part-time job—I never dreamed I’d be part of management.

  • 4.

But then they promoted me to shift lead; suddenly I had the power to believe in myself.

  • 5.

From there, I was promoted to a restaurant general manager.

  • 6.

I was named one of the top 100 RGMs in the country; my team at 9414 was the best.

  • 7.

Now I have the best job at Taco Bell; it lets me travel the world and speak in my native Spanish.

Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Myself:

    I’m self-conscious about my English.

  • How I responded:

I was born in the United States, but I grew up in Mexico, so English is my second language. Because of that language barrier, I was nervous to work the cash register when I first started working. But Taco Bell had all the resources I needed to improve, and I got more comfortable with my English. Now I’m able to use my knowledge of both English and Spanish as an asset.
