My path in life has been direct
1.
Being a member of Interact and Rotaract; it's the most rewarding organization I've been a part of.
2.
At my first networking event, a Rotarian gave me tips on how to network, which I still use today.
3.
Studying in Australia inspired me to major in International Business and Marketing.
4.
Volunteering at an orphanage in Fiji encouraged me to create a volunteer website; still in the works.
5.
My love for social media ignited when I volunteered at the Social Media Marketing World conference.
6.
Working for Zipcar San Diego has provided me many opportunities to wear multiple marketing hats.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
You only got into USD because they needed more diversity.
How I responded:
That comment hurt and it stuck with me for a very long time, especially since I got rejected from my safe school and USD my first choice. But since then, I've realized that I belong at USD and there are a number of reasons why USD chose me. I think that the higher up in your career you get, the more negativity you'll hear, but you cannot let it get you down. You don't know what others are going through, or where the negativity is coming from, just take a deep breath and take one thing at a time.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I only applied to three universities. After receiving my waitlist and rejection letter from two colleges, I was terrified. I told myself that I would not go to community college and I wanted to be the first in my family to graduate from a university.
