How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Family:
You should go into the field of engineering like your grandfather and cousins.
How I responded:
I thought carefully about engineering and decided it wasn't one of my passions. You have to think about what you enjoy and want to pursue as a career. Don't let friends or family members try to push you towards a certain job, especially if it's something you aren't interested in. Don't choose a job to make someone else happy, choose it because it makes you happy!
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
College is expensive and I tried to save as much money while in college as possible. I carefully budgeted out all my expenses and didn't spurge. I bought textbooks second hand as much as possible and I would check them out of the library.
