Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
You should go to a university...It wasn't exactly one person (it certainly didn't come from my family or close friends). There's a societal pressure to go through every stage of education if you want to be considered intelligent or employable.
How I responded:
I tried to walk through every door that became available to me. I didn't say no to things. I tried to be as confident as possible even when I was scared to death of what I was doing. I still am. Confidence is something you don't learn. You have to fake it until it sort of becomes a part of you. If you believe you can do something, by just doing it you will learn how to do it. And not just from your mistakes. You'll learn by watching, by asking, by doing. You'll learn because you love doing it.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I didn't have masses of money. Money was always tight. Sometimes I had to do jobs I didn't want to. But you have to keep on going with your passion. All the time. Don't get tired out by the day to the point where you can't explore the night.
