My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Got a Bachelor's degree in Communication - PR, minoring in psychology.
2.
Served as a public relations intern/assistant at 2 boutique agencies and 1 stint in-house.
3.
Studied abroad in Spain and re-discovered that my true passion was in connecting to people.
4.
Revived a PR job I had left, but was ultimately not happy in this field.
5.
A good friend and current Art Director encouraged me to explore the digital side of communication.
6.
Took the leap into social media and the digital space. I loved this more personable side.
7.
Elevated to a strategic role in social media. Though a solid strategist, I found myself unfulfilled.
8.
My great bosses and mentors noticed creativity in my blood. Currently pursuing copywriting!

How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Myself:
You want me to switch careers THIS late in the game? I'm not good enough.
How I responded:
Everyone around me -- from my parents at a young age, to my teachers and peers, and finally, to my bosses and mentors at work -- recognized my passion for writing. I was the one standing in my way. Finally, our Creative Director said to me, "You're scared that you could get paid for everything going on up there *pointed to my head*." Surround yourself with people who believe in you and your talent, because sometimes the only person stopping you... is you.
