My path in life has been direct
1.
Grew up in South Florida with immigrant parents who didn't have the opportunity to go to college.
2.
Parents had to go clean restaurants and do hard labor to get by; taught her how to have a great work ethic.
3.
Was a nosy kid; says she loved figuring out why things worked the way they did.
4.
Had never even heard of the Ivy League, but applied to Princeton University at the behest of her counselor.
5.
Was homesick and cold in New Jersey, but kept herself busy, found more things she liked to do, felt more and more comfortable.
6.
Studied chemical engineering; one of her internships dealt with material science, she went on to get her doctorate in that field.
7.
Now works at Dow Chemical engineering fluids so they'll give cars better mileage on each gallon of gas, reduce emissions.
8.
Knows she's in the right field because her job feeds her curiosity, keeps her up at night, motivates her to go into work everyday.
