Advice for getting started
I recommend pursuing an undergraduate degree in psychology. If possible, try to network with more licensed professionals to better know what to expect instead of just relying on an academic institution. Counseling is a very complex field and there are many different paths to take, so do your research and choose what's best for you.
Here's the path I took:
High School
Bachelor's Degree
Accounting
Kentucky State University
Graduate Degree
Clinical Mental Health Counseling
University of Kentucky
Here's the path I recommend for someone who wants to be a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate:
Bachelor's Degree: Psychology
